Spring 2024 Updates

Forestry News

way’, Hello. Despite a few weeks of downtime for our operations for break-up, it’s been a busy spring for Ntityix Resources.

Wildfire salvage is ongoing in the Hidden Creek area where we plan to complete the harvest of damaged spruce, pine and balsam early this summer before moving into the Douglas -fir. We anticipate having our salvage operations completed by this fall.

Our spring planting program is underway. This year we will be planting 322,000 trees consisting of Douglas-fir, spruce, lodgepole pine, Larch, Western White pine, and Ponderosa Pine. Wildfire mitigation work continues in the upper Glenrosa community forest area where we are nearing completion of a 67-hectare project.

The ONA tmxʷulaxʷ Working Group has been working on developing Forestry Standards which will provide operational guidance to meet the intent of the syilx Forestry Principles. When these Standards are completed, they will be incorporated into our Seven Generation Plan.

We are in the process of determining the feasibility of operating our own log sort yard. A sort yard will enable us to separate high value logs that get mixed with other sorts done in the bush. The decision to move forward with this project will be determined later this year.
