Summer 2026 Updates

Forestry News

way’, Hello. Summer is the height of our field season. Staff are on the land monitoring the forests we’ve been entrusted to manage. We check on areas that we previously harvested to determine if our objectives were met, how the land responded, and if we could have done something differently.  We check on the seedlings we planted, how they’re responding and whether we need to take any management activities to ensure their survival.

With WFN members and the BC Wildlife Federation we helped move two beavers into an uninhabited (by beavers) wetland northwest of Big White. The beavers, Tina and Nelson seem to be doing just fine!

Our contractors have been busy in the Jack Creek and Lacoma areas this summer but were shutdown for a few weeks in August due to dry forest conditions. Wildfire mitigation work continues in the Upper Glenrosa areas with over 70 hectares treated this summer by our Forestry Crew and Syilx Contracting. In addition, our Forestry Crew completed 17 hectares of thinning and pruning in dense pine stands.

With fall around the corner, we welcome cooler temperatures, clean air, and wonderful colours. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.
