With the onset of spring comes our annual planting program. This year marks our highest planting year in our history with approximately 950,000 seedlings and over 1,100 huckleberry seedlings planted. Most of these trees have been planted within the boundaries of the 2023 McDougall Creek wildfire.
In addition, our crew completed shrub planting and live staking for RDCO within Rose Valley Park.
Our spring harvest program began just west of Peachland where we salvaged about 4,000 cubic metres of timber from the September 2025 Munro wildfire. This was done in small patches where the most fire-damaged trees occurred and leaving, where possible the remaining green trees.
Our forestry crew continues its important work completing wildfire mitigation work in upper Glenrosa. We’d like to recognize our crew who completed the mitigation in Kalamoir Park two years ago which undoubtedly made a significant difference in the outcome of the recent wildfire in the park.
